The much-anticipated OTT release of “Salaar” on Netflix has been confirmed, securing a staggering deal of Rs 162 crore for digital rights across all five languages. Despite growing anticipation, the official release date remains speculative, with recent buzz suggesting a potential Netflix launch in January, possibly coinciding with Sankranthi on January 12. However, neither the filmmakers nor Netflix have provided official confirmation. The standard rule dictates a movie’s OTT release 45 days after its theatrical debut, unless it continues to run in theaters, in which case the digital platform must wait until the end of its theatrical run.
The digital deal for “Salaar” sets a new record as the highest-ever OTT deal for a South Indian film, intensifying excitement following the film’s theatrical success since its release on December 22. Directed by Prashanth Neel, “Salaar: Ceasefire – Part 1” boasts a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Tinnu Anand, Easwari Rao, and Sriya Reddy, among others.

Amidst rumors of a potential January release on Netflix, fans also eagerly await the television premiere on the Star Maa channel. The film’s box office success is evident, achieving an impressive collection of Rs 90 crore on its domestic premiere day and a global total of Rs 178 crore.
With a reported budget of Rs 270 crore, “Salaar” has emerged as a box-office powerhouse, accumulating a reported Rs 391 crore to date at the domestic box office. Currently ranking as the 8th highest-grossing Indian film of the year, the epic action film delves into the complex dynamic between two friends turned foes, solidifying Prashanth Neel’s stature in the industry and enhancing Prabhas’ reputation as a bankable star.
